I’m not really sure what’s going on here and thought I’d get some input. For the past day or 2 when my Tib is cold I get a bucking (surging) feeling when I’m in first gear. It’s not a constant thing and seems to be much worse when it’s not warmed up. The temp here has dropped below 20, so I’m not sure if this could be affecting it or not. It’s an 01 with a 5spd, no cel completely stock (as far as I know). Anyone’s input would be nice, I really don’t want to go out and work on things that may not even be wrong with it, –30 with the wind chill isn’t a fun time to work on your car with no garage. TIA

I dont know what it is with cold weather but tiburons seem to hate it. Multiple members have been complaining about the same things lately.

Guess I'll see just how much the cold has to do with it, it's 9 out now 02.gif.

change your tranny oil to synthetic oil, such as Redline, Motul, Royal Purple, and so on.

you can feel the difference instantly. smile.gif

My tib loves the cold weather, the CAI just screams! My CAI has come off twice (barely) above the MAF, and eventually threw a CEL. When it was partly off, it really bucked and surged similar to what you're describing. Since you're stock though, I'm not quite sure...

4.5 out today, Tib really likes that...... Should I use the MT-90 for tranny oil, I think it needs to be changed, should be fun in sub zero weather!

I second the cold air intake issue. If it comes off above the MAP then you will get some WICKED bad bucking. again your 100% stock but you may want to still check your connections. could be a very simple fix.
