How can I tell the difference. The hood is missing on my car we are re doing since it was in a accident before we bought it. What can I look at to figure out what my motor is, a 1.8 or 2.0??
Its a 1999 Tiburon |

Sweet. Thank you very much for the speedy reply!

Also, if you do a carfax it will tell you everything you need to know

I figured I'd post in this thread rather than starting a new one...
I'm planning on going to a junkyard in a few weeks to look for a Beta I 2.0 to build up. Is there anything to look for in terms of distinguishing a 1.8 from a 2.0? I'm guessing its just being careful and examining the vehicle the prospective motor is in, but its always better to ask for help from those who know sooner than later... |
I think the 1.8's have the cat under the car, whereas the 2.0's have it in the front right after the manifold.
But im not sure. |
^that can't be it because it varies from the assembly date. i think the only way would be to check the vin number. i don't know of a specific way to check the exact engine.

All 99's were 2.0's
