To this

Then heres a pencil drwg to help out.Take the drwg to your local CNC shop and I'm sure you can get it made for a fair price.

Hope some of you get one of these as it sure looks nice installed.Larrs

JonGTR 10-25-2007 07:21 AM

Lemme get this on Cad and I'll see what the CNC shop says. Are you should you want to hand this off?

Larrs 10-25-2007 07:27 AM

Yup I got mine already(in stainless steal)as I made it myself.I cant afford to take this project on so see what you can do.Most of the orders are from the States so the price should be better for everybody if the rings where made in the States.Larrs

Bullfrog 10-25-2007 07:32 AM

As I posted this in the other thread but what about a small royalty if we start getting these produced? Larrs did put in some man hours, and judging by the other thread alot of people are interested. Just trying to help a brother out.

JonGTR 10-25-2007 08:21 AM

Done with the CAD. Not that I don't trust your dims, but I'm gonna verify them today or tomorrow with my digital caliper.

REDZMAN 10-25-2007 09:55 AM

Laars, sorry to see you give it up man, I was in as long as it was under 80 bucks.

Jon, you need me to source the screws/nuts?

JonGTR 10-25-2007 10:03 AM

I'm gonna go through with this no matter what it costs. Either people buy it, or they don't.
The fact of the matter is, there are PLENTY of people that want this no matter what the price, and that includes me.
I'll get the hex bolts from home depot or Lowes since they'll be easily accesible to me. Once I buy a bolt, I'll be able to figure out the countersink. Then I'll send the file to my CNC guy.

SOCKS_old 10-25-2007 02:20 PM

i got a 3d drawing somewhere on my computer that i made from the metal ring on dans car. i used a very high grade set of calipers to measure everything. i even got the countersink from the bolts he had on his ring.. ill try to dig it up..

FlyRyde 10-25-2007 02:27 PM

Lemme know when they're ready and we can throw em up on FlyRyde to sell what you have on hand. I'm working on a main page for each vehicle so that I can add rotating product spotlights for that car, so putting this ring up there might snag a few orders if that helps you any. Good job guys, I want one for my RD2 and my RD1 (with RD2 interior).

i think it was more of a matter of him not being able to produce them for a price anywhere near what he thought was legitimate, rather than having people back out. im all about getting us new products, but i would not personally shell out 60 for that piece, especially when you have all the other look-alike silver plastic pieces in the interior.

but that's in the past, hope this moves forward.

Thank you Laars for the valliant effort. You earned your RDTiburon ribon!

This is designed and authorized for wear on military uniforms by me! Just print it out and stick it on. I authorize civilians to wear it too.

For valor, fidelity, and outstanding effort on RDTiburon.com

I don't think its going to be cheap with the small amount of orders any shop will not give much of a discount. the sheer price of aluminum and the amount you would have to buy. Im waiting to hear what quotes that you guys are getting.

The problem is, the US dollar is so crappy right now, it is very expensive for Americans to import anything. Its much nicer for Canadians to import from the US fing02.gif

Bullfrog 10-26-2007 07:52 PM

Never used to be that way...

quick google conversion

1 U.S. dollar = 0.966900109 Canadian dollars

Thats the way it is when your government prints money to get out of debt....

JonGTR 10-31-2007 01:00 PM

FYI, the quote for the prototype is $125.

Don't worry, the GB price will be a lot lower. Making one piece will always cost more. I'm still waiting on the GB price.

SOCKS_old 11-01-2007 02:55 PM

are these being done on a CNC? just a CNC machine or CNC bridgeport.

what did you draw that up in? autoCAD? if so, send me the file if you don't mind and ill try and get a quote for it.

why not just make it from steel (would be cheaper) and with that small of a part, not too much heavier.

JonGTR 11-01-2007 06:17 PM

I'm not releasing too much yet, but I just got back the quote and it's VERY reasonable. Enough so to go through with it. fing02.gif

So, I'm gonna get the GB details settled and talk to Redz about getting mass emails out to everyone.

SOCKS_old 11-01-2007 06:58 PM
