to be honest
i can't realy tell (i haven't driven my car for a year, forgot how it feels)
but it is a lot more solid than before.

I thought about the engine strut mounts too but there was to much custom fab for me to bother with.

I suppose if you car is a dedicated track/race car then it would help otherwise its just another thing to make the bro's go "Ohhh whats that" lol.gif

Heh... many people know I also have a fiat spider.. I have not driven that car since 1996. Someday I will finish the mods and get it back together.

well here is an update from today.

the motor mounts look awsome. 3 of them are real easy to do but the 4th one is some what a PITA. the one that is a pain is the top mount on the passenger side next to the belts.

it has been about 5 hours since i have done the urethane and the mounts are solid. i will be giving them about another day or 2 before i touch them just to make sure everything sets in real good.

here is a picture from hma so i can better explain to those who are'nt sure.

the front and rear roll stoppers are the 2 most important to do if you are looking to stop the engine from bucking under heavy torque. they are the easiest to do.

the mount that is labeled 50-65 is the hardest one to do and it takes a little time and care. the reason it is a pain is because it has 2 fat bushings on both side and makes it hard to pour the urethane and extremely hard to tape up so the urethane does'nt leak out. here is what i did:

i removed one side of it very carefully, to do this you have to tear it from the medal bolt hole.

after i did that i shaved the excess off with a small cutting bit on my dremel CAREFUL NOT TO SHAVE OFF THE 2 NUBBS. you will notice that it fits together like a little puzzle and if you shave off the nubbs then it will just spin in place and have nothing to stop against. after everything was clean i made sure that it snapped back in before i poured the urethane.

with the side bushing removed, tape up that side with masking tape or duct tape making sure there is no where it can leak out. after you do a good job of taping then put the bushing back on and snug it to the tape. this way when you pour the urethane it will leave the indent after it dries so you can remove the tape and snug the bushing in place.

i noticed that each mount had excess rubber in it from when they were molded, i just used my dremel bit and removed all the excess. i also soaked them in a bucket of degreaser and cleaned them real good with a small wire brush.

one of the motor mount, i think it is the rear, has a piece of rubber that is in it to take up extra space, it just pops out so you can fill the whole mount with urethane. if you look at the diagram, in the center how it is at an angle. you see the 2 sqigly lines, if you press on those then the rubber part will pop out.

i will have pictures tomorrow of the final project and parts that i took out that won't be needed since they are solid now. i forgot to take pics before and durring but i will try to simulate it for a better description.

if you take your time and dont drip or spill the urethane, these motor mounts look very professional.

i used masking tape instead of duct tape and there was no leakage at all. the masking tape holds a real good flat seal around the entire mount and seems to be a litttle easier to work with than duct tape.

as soon as the engine is back in the car i will let everyone know how the car feels with all 4 solid mounts.

cool, hope it dosn't make the car vibrate too much.

I only did the front and back mounts on the center member to stop the roll, you can tell during reassembly that they are alot stronger when you have to put that centermember back on. wink.gif
