so, this is not actually a DIY, but a failed attempt, I was stumped on how to remove the bracket that comes out of the middle of the timing belt and loops back to just behind the timing belt.
check this cell phone pic.
there are 2 bolts on the rear of this bracket, but they are blocked by the AC compressor, and from the head of the bolt to the frame is about 3 inches, just not enough to get a 3/8ths socket in there on a ratchet.
Is there somthing Im missing ?
MODERATORS, please leave this up, i know its not a DIY, but it will be a soon as I can get some adivce on how how to remove that bracket.

what ? yes it does have to come off
its a U shaped bracket.
a mount comes from out in between the timing belt and another from behind the timing belt.
trust me, it needs to come out.
i had everything off, the motor mount, the belts, the covers, the underdrive pully, and then i see that i cant get the belt off without taking this bracket off.
look what i mean, it may be different on a beta 2, this pic is of the beta 2 from NGM supercharger prototype, hyundai may have made a detachable piece so that the entire rear bracket did not have to be removed, but on my motor, beta 1, its one piece, but removable from the center mount that comes out from in between the timing belt.

...???????>>>>>>>...
oh wait, hold up,
after looking good at that pic, i see that that rear bracket and the main bracket is attatch with a small cross member that can be removed by one bolt.
JEEZ i cant believe i didnt notice that, I feel so stupid, ok this is dumb, im dumb.
DIY this weekend now that T.C's pic showed me the way !!

once again, as i said, there is no reason to remove that part your worried about, im not guessing, im saying this from experience....
look at this pic.

once you remove the upper mount, you can just pass the belt right through that area without issue. (make sure you brace the motor beforehand though, and you can also take advantage of having that mount out, and jack the engine up a bit more to get a really easy angle at changing the belt from the top.

i know i know,
after posting this and doing some more research, i saw that the rear bracket is attatched to the front bracker via a bolt, this bolt also holds, the AC line.
thanks xxxmonoxidechild
