DIY - Power Door Locks
ok here goes. i know this isn't on a hyundai. it's on my 1991 chevy truck. i will also be doing a power window install here soon. but here is the door lock. first off i got my door lock off of ebay or 20 i think. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=33696 that is the actual link for the guy i got mine from.
#1 remove door pannel
#2 gain access to the door lock push pull rod.
#3 there may be a plastic thing that is there for the factory power lock you might be able to tie the aftermarket actuator with the factory stuff. but if there is not it comes will a metal screw clip to connect the two together. make sure you connect them so they look like = and not / they need to be parelle to each other.

#4 now comes the fun part. get a nice big ass drill and a 1/2" drill bit. if you don't have a place where you can just poke out some plastic caps like these:

and make it look like this.

if you dont' have plastic caps on the door jam and the door you will have to drill the 1/2 inch hole. if you have the plastic caps might as well drill the hole in them rather then makein them look like shit.
pick a spot in the door jam when you go to drill the hole so that you can't f*** up the hing or anything of any importance. you will also need to get some 4ga little cap things.

no once you get the hole drilled and the wires in place and tripple check they aren't being caught by the door when it's opening or closing or the window moving up or down you can get power to your locks.

yeah yeah go to your local stereo shop and the the diagram to find a power wire. it's not hard. now put your pannels back on and make sure all wire connections are easy to get to. like so.

now ops check them and go get a beer. it will take you at least 3 hours

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (javageek)</div><div class='quotemain'>So that set you bought is pretty good? I have heard there are some cheap actuators and I want to make sure I get some good ones.</div>
who knows only time will tell. but if they go out then just swap the actuators. i'm gonna buy 2 more kits just in case. but you already have the wireing in place. you can buy the dei actuators for 15 each, but then to make it work with any alarm you gonna use the 2 relay method to make it work. on this on it has a control box so it hook the keyless entry wires to the actuator wires. it's extreamly simple. the directions you'll get will be pretty ueseless. but i's not hard. the reason actuators go bad is because people don't align the parellel with the stock push pull rod. if you don't then you'll have extra wear on the actuator motors and they will go tits up.

would a kit like http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...gory=14934&rd=1 this work?
also... does anyone have any experience doing this in a tib? I'm going to be attempting this mod next week, when my power door lock kit gets here.. with the kit i just posted, how hard should it be?

are you iliveinavandownbytheriver? lol.gif
it shouldnt be to hard. use the electrical tab at www.hmaservice.com/webtech to identify what color wires you need to tap into.

some tibs didn't have them. and nyne that kit should be ok. just follow my directions you'll be alright. if you need a power window kit i can send you to a place that has great kits!!! i put one in my truck. it didn't take but like 7hrs from start to stop after i figure out why i wasn't getting power. i should have done a write up on it to. but oh well. just remember to mount the actuator parellel with what's there. you might have a plastic thing for the power locks chillin some where in there. but if not just use the set screws. it's really easy.
