No, it does not come with the fan. It comes with the ring, enclosed in an acrylic shell.

That isn't a bad idea but usually cold cathodes are VERY expensive. Don't know why these are so cheap. it doesn't show the power supply with it. Maybe thats what is expensive eh? These are fragile too mang.

Cold cathodes aren't expensive. I use to by 10 inch bars for $9 including the transformer. These come with the power supply, and acrylic tubing. You would have to cut the grill out of it. But, I think they would work pretty good. Plus, you can get them on ebay for $8 each!

Now wait a sec. How come they were so expensive when we were looking at using these for gauge needles? They were hundreds of bucks!

But, on the bad side, they don't last as long as LED's...

I think those may have been custom applications or something. I can get 4" CCF tubes for about $6 including the transformer. I have yet to have a tube go out.

it says acrylic on the website. u might wanna experiment with some blacktibs.

I was also reading that these are very fragile. Hey, if it works, great, go for it.

Only thing I'm worried about is fragility and durability (Length of time they'll burn for).

so how do these work??? Could we get some thin ass acrylic or use what I'm using for the acrylic and then us this CCF or whatever. I'd make some needles at least. I dont think I'll make needles with what I have now though. Lots of work per set I'd have to sell em for too much. But maybe with these?
