If my network was "Linksys" I would have to identify it out of the other 3 "Linksys" networks within range of my house.

It's easy to identify your router. It is the one on channel 1,6,12 with encryption and the highest signal strength.

Also, they can target it all day long. WPA2 with AES will not crack easily. And then they have to get through your firewall and computer passwords.

Having a generic name with encryption is a very non enticing target. Now if someone hates elantras or visionZ or whatever, they may take the time to hack it out of spite. Not likely, but generic names are the best way to thwart a potential targeted threat.
