I'm ready to buy an SSD for my laptop because I'm not a fan of how slow the 5400 RPM drive in it is. I'm not too smart when it comes to these kinds of upgrades but I know that it makes the swap easier if you have the same size new drive going in as the size of the old drive. My laptop has a 930GB drive in it. I can't find any SSD's in that size. Only full 1 terrabytes. Will I be ok if I get the 1TB, and do the cloning procedure or do I still have to do all that partition stuff, which I dont really understand?
Size won't matter. Get what you want. The cloning will work as long as it's big enough for all your files. Huge difference in performance. You'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

It is simpler to clone a drive to one of the same (storage capacity) size. As long as the new drive isn't smaller than the contents of the old drive, it's possible to go down. Going up is only slightly more complicated than cloning to a drive of the same size.
Whatever you do, make sure you've got a solid backup before you start copying.
