Some early Windows 8 leaks are out.

A few quick things that caught my eye.

- Microsoft appears to be looking to what it refers to as Apple's "virtuous cycle" of brand loyalty, and the company wants consumers to think of Windows 8 as being just as uncomplicated and high quality.

- a "push button reset" that automatically resets Windows to factory condition while leaving a user's files in place

- plans for a "Windows Store" app store, which will allow apps and settings to follow users from machine to machine ... content curated not only by Microsoft, but also partners and device manufacturers

- Microsoft doesn't plan to support [Bluetooth 3.0 or Firewire] in Windows 8

I could see how a lot of that might be appealing to most end users, but I just see it as incredibly interruptive if not outright invasive.

With Microsoft essentially divorcing itself from the more technically inclined, I'd imagine that black-hat communities will grow a few years from now as we all struggle to retrofit applications of tomorrow into Windows XP, Vista, and 7 environments, essentially attempting to squeeze next-gen Windows runtimes and frameworks into yesteryear Windows platforms. That is, unless Linux becomes more accessible.

It's going to be atrocious if it gets to the point that we have to "jailbreak" Windows just to install a f*cking unsigned driver, application, or play a non-DRM music file. headshake.gif

I will probly use it in a virtual machine. Sounds like some nice features, but the last good OS was Windows XP. I'd never let Mac OSX touch real hardware. Windows 8 may be good, but we'll see.
