Just wondering how many people here have built apps and submitted them to either the Apple store or Android Play store. Did you offer them as free downloads or paid?

 

Had a friend that created a series of iOS apps and wouldn't stop blah blah blah-ing about them on Facebook, so I had to drop him.

 

I would do free. Get paid through advertising and offer paid versions without advertising. Expecting someone to pay for apps now a days is difficult. Getting approved for the apple marketplace is difficult and then after you're on having people download your app is a whole new problem. The flood of apps on the market now a days makes it so saturated that its difficult for start ups. Unless you create something completely revolutionary or new AND make it better than all apps that eventually will copy your idea.

 

My criteria for apps to download:

1. Free
   
2. No snooping, not even phone status
   

You better have a killer app if you expect people to pay, because it's pretty certain somebody else has something similar for free already.
