New company in my area is offering fiber optic internet service. The only 2 options you have here are Frontier (DSL) or Time Warner (Road Runner). We cant get Verizon FiOS because those 2 companies are blocking Verizon from being here. It sucks. My speeds are horrible and I pay out the ass for it. So when I found out about this company earlier offering 100 Mbps for only $50 a month...you're damn right I contacted them! Their in the suburb over, and will be making their way over to where I live later this summer. So cant wait to finally have decent speeds and not pay out the butt for it!

Yeah, you're still paying too much. Think how little demand you actually put on the company, and realize that you are buying whole new server for them every other year. You should be paying MAYBE 1/2 that, for faster service, as we all should. Thank your local and federal elected heroes for preventing TRUE high speed internet at a low price like they have in Eastern Asian nations.

You should live in rural Illinois. I pay $50 a month for 750kbps wireless ethernet. My other choice is using my 4G phone service at $10 a gig. But Frontier who bought out Verizone's land lines is running fiber optic along most riads preparing to run it to the houses. Probably only take another 5 years........
