Default A better alternative to the ipad?

So everyone is sooo mesmerized by the ipad but to me it just seemed like a giant ipod touch when I messed with it at the Apple store, but a friend of mine showed me this tablet which seems to be an actual computer with windows 7 and real programs, not apps.

What do you guys think?

tablets are fairly cheap but often doesn't have the processing power of a regular netbook/laptop.

What do you want the iPad / Tablet for? If it's a $500 toy to play games, that's one thing. If it's to compose emails, work on documents, and use it as a computer, just get a 10" netbook for $400.

I'm totally not a fan of the iPad. It has less functionality than a netbook but costs more.

If you want something that's just flat out cool, look for the Cisco Cius. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps11156/index.html

I could see myself getting an Android tablet. I'm pretty happy with the OS.

I would definately buy Android before iPad. The iOS is so locked down it's rediculous. You can't do anything custom unless you pay apple to become a developer.
