Does the iPhone 8 Plus have a battery issue?
Apple is investigating after reports of handsets 'bursting' open
Images from Taiwanese media claim to show a customer's burst device
Another user in Japan shared images to Twitter claiming to show the same
There does not appear to be any visible signs of overheating or exploding
Expanding gases inside the gadgets may be responsible for the problem
Many reports of this nature do turn out to be fake, upon further investigation

Looks like the clips and adhesive failed when someone sat down with it in their back pocket.
