Does anyone here use them or do you all generally go by word of mouth when you want to go somewhere new? Ive always gone by word of mouth from friends and family, but I may start using the review websites a little more just to see what unbiased people have said.

I use them from time to time but usually peoples opinion (who I know personally) is what I take into consideration.

If I'm researching for a trip (e.g., Chicago) i'll definitely use them. It gives you an idea of what to prepare for (attire, price, cuisine) and what to expect.

If it's around town, I use CitySearch just because I can't remember all the different places around here. I don't pay too much attention to the ratings unless they're "Best Steak House" or "A rat crawled out of my food" - something significant like that. Everyone preference is different, I'll form my own opinion.
