Do you split it up evenly, such as a bill is $100, party of 5, so $20 each (regardless of how much each person ate, even someone just had the bread and some water)?



Do you pay just what you had, are you one of those people?



Or do you take turns paying the entire bill, basically taking turns for it being your treat.

 

We normally just ask for separate checks. Makes life much easier

I go out to eat with friends all the time. It's simple, if I owe him money or he just did me a huge favor or a birthday (or other such event), I got the bill. Otherwise we get separate checks and/or drop in cash. This is not hard equation.

 

Usually my friends and I take turns getting the bill. Some of us make more than others and usually pick up the bill at pricier places. Why? Because friends.

 

In a large group (6+), we would get everything on one bill and divide it up, but one friend would always fail to put in his full share of the bill (he would throw in $10 when he owed $25 + tip). Everyone else would cover the shortage but I got sick of it because he was a cheap ass and was doing it on purpose (this guy has a good job and $$$ was not a problem). After the 10th time this happened I decided to always get a separate bill.





If it's just me and another friend having beers or something, one of us will cover the whole bill. Because friends. (sorry cobra had to steal it)

I usually only go out to eat with a female. Just a friend we will take turns getting the bill, somebody I'm taking on a date ill pay. Going out for drinks with friends we will pay for our own drinks or ill pay the tab if my buddy is broke then he will get me next time. Then, I have a sugar mama that pays for everything

 

I pay separately most of the time, but sometimes friends will cover each other.
