Rich Banker Leaves 1 Percent Tip As Insult To The 99 Percent

One arrogant and defiant banker decidedly left a tip of $1.33 on a $133.54 tab at a boutique Newport Beach, California restaurant. To add insult to injury, the banker left the server another tip on the receipt: ‘Get a real job’.

The banker’s arrogant behavior was documented by his dining companion, who posted a photo of the receipt to Twitter, alerting Eater’s Receiprocity blog.

The post and blog were later deleted, reports the Daily Mail. FutureExBanker, wrote in a now-deleted post: ‘I work in the corporate office of a major bank for a boss who represents everything wrong with the financial industry.’ The blogger explained that his boss tips exactly one per cent of the bill ‘every time he feels the server doesn’t sufficiently bow down to his Holiness.’

‘On top of that,’ the banker wrote,’ he’s a complete and utter tool.’

A hostess for True Food Kitchen told LAList.com that he had heard about the receipt but could neither confirm nor deny if it was real, nor if she remembered the customer.

What a douchbagel!

From my experience in the food industry, nothing is worse than prom parties and "Christians."

However, I've also been proven wrong many times when analyzing the table to anticipate what I may or may not receive.

Asian businessmen tip well because they order lots of wine and alcohol and think it's proper and customary to tip 15-20%

I remember those days.

What I don't understand is if the banker wrote that, then why would he go to a restaurant to get waited? Go to a golf course to get caddied? Go to the supermarket to get rung up?

I tip based on service, food quality and speed. If the food is good, server knows what they're doing and I wasn't waiting for 45 mins for my club sandwich w/fries, I'll leave a good tip (15%+).

If you suck as a waiter, you get nothing. I didn't make you take a below-minimum wage job and I for damn sure didn't make you slow to deliver my order or cause you to never once look in my direction, get my order wrong, etc.

If you are an ok waiter, tipping starts at 10-15% whatever comes out to an even dollar number for my receipt

If you are a good waiter, higher

If you are an epic waiter who will be running the restaurant in a year because you are awesome, a 100% tip is not out of the question.

The banker probably felt like he got bad service, duh?

I regularly leave 20%, but on small bills (under $10), I usually leave 50-100%.
