why are tool boxes so damn freaking expensive?
i don't understand why large metal boxes on wheels with drawers cost so much. there doesn't seem to be much mechanical complexity. no motors. is it just because they're cool so stores can charge what they want?

Look on some used classified sites, it's amazing the deals you can find. I found a set of 4 all season tires on steel rims with Hyundai hubcaps (org. off an 07 Accent) for $160!!
OR Call your local Snap-on or Mac tools dealer, they often take old toolboxes on trade and sell them for a decent price. |
Most modern Craftsman stuff is crap. I managed to get a really REALLY nice on over at Lowes. I go to the post office and get those 10% off coupons in the Moving Packets they hand out, then use my veterans discount. You can save a ton of money.

^ what they said: they are too expensive because you are paying retail

look in to harbor freight http://www.harborfreight.com/hand-tools/tool-carts.html and http://www.harborfreight.com/hand-to...nd-chests.html
|
they are expensive cuz they have to hold like 2 tons of weight and glide easily
harbor freight and sears tool boxes are good for shade tree techs but for people who do this for a living and open each drawer hundreds of times a day, matco, mac and snap on are the way to go id LOVE to see a harbor freight box try to do this https://i133.photobucket.com/albums/...tledMedium.jpg |
^^^ exactly, you are mostly paying for R&D. Trust me when I say it's worth it.

i had a craftman roll around toolbox and the POS almost fell apart. my work place replaced it with another POS... LOL
