This trade war is ridiculous

So many countries rely on the US for trade and we rely on so many other countries for things we need. Trump is being a moron with all these trade tariffs. :fp:

I think it's awesome. Someone's finally addressing the Chinese knockoffs. I hope they ban it all and heavily fine all distributors here in the US that try to sell the crap.

Do you really find it ethical for Chinese companies to take someone's hard earned work, copy it, relabel it and sell it for less all due to slave labor?

Do you really find it "fair" that we bring in products with next to zero tariffs, yet when our companies try to sell products overseas, we are taxed 50% on average so no one wants to buy them?

This whole process is going to go through growing pains, but in the end, we'll come out better for it.

Agreed! The old mantra, "things have to get worse before they get better" certainly applies. This problem has been ignored for so long. It's gonna take a huge jolt and shock to get things back on a level playing field.

Most of the things Trump is doing is shock and awe to most because we have passively been letting things get worse. A blind eye if you will. Most people "can't handle the truth" as Jack Nicholson once stated so eloquintly.

All the Rota and TiAl knockoff fanboys are gonna sh*t once they get banned.

faithofadragon 04-06-2018 04:31 PM

Finally something I support the Donald on. This is going to hurt "the people of Walmart" in the short term, but will eventually improve our economy.

But many of the steps he outlined are ones Beijing has already proposed in some form.

For example, the Chinese government had promised in November to "gradually and properly" reduce tariffs on imported vehicles, though it didn't give a specific time frame for doing so.

Seems CNN is insinuating that China was planning this before Trump really slammed them last month. BUT, wasn't he already in negotiations with China "in some form" before he even became president?

"CNN FAKE NEWS!!!"

Trump threatened tariffs, China backed off, then China threatened tarriffs and Trump called them on it, said it would be easy to win a trade war when we're already losing.

And then today: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/china-x...-donald-trump/

Such a weird time we are living in... I wonder how this will impact the car market. I know there are a few big name Chinese car manufacturers that are coming to market but overall consumers aren't very trusting of a Chinese brand.
