Ok, so I am in the middle of installing all of the group buy stuff I have, slotted discs, braided lines..... I got the fronts done after fighting with the driver's side disc for three hours (finally broke it and then it came off) and I get to the rears...

The driver's side rear has a problem. For those that have done their own brakes, you know that the caliper slides on a pair of spring loaded pins. Well, I had a VERY hard time getting the bolts back into the pins... but I got them in and took the car for a test drive.. First time I touch the brakes, that rear wheel locks up and refuses to release...

Take it all apart, the caliper is cocked to one side. Under closer examination, all the problems I have been having stem from one problem.. the lower of the two pins rusted solid with the caliper bracket. As my tib has 103,000 miles, I have to go to the dealer and pay of my pocket to replace it...

I have an issue with the GB slotted discs too.. I LOVE how the rears do not have threaded holes to mount them to the hub.. and the front's are drilled wrong so they are usless for mounting. The only thing holding them on are the rims themselves..

Wow. That doesn't sound so good. I'm still unsure about what you are talking about with the pins in the back. Those shouldn't affect the rotor, just the caliper, no??

yes, they are the pins that hold the caliper in place when it is not grabbing the disc.

The rotor issue is a totally different matter.

<----puts new caliper grease on the slider bolts and inside the little rubber boots for the pins every time i mess with the brakes. those are the things you are talking about, correct?

if i were you, i would just go to a junkyard and get a new caliper assembly off a tib. gonna be much cheaper than the dealer.

kinda on topic, my parking brake is locking up like a mutha with this cold weather. i dont think i need to adjust it, but just find wherever its mounting points are and grease em up good.
