Seriously?

I decided to replace the o2 sensors on the tib as a part of my work, so I went about getting the upper manifold off. The usual, hit it with some PB blaster and let it soak. Box end wrench, no go. Correct o2 socket and breaker bar, no go. Torch and some oil, followed by more wrenching, no go. o2 socket and impact wrench, major no go, shredded the metal off the sensor, rounded completely off. Seriously!?

Time to start looking for a new header. Off to the local junkyard. an hour and a half of examining every hyundai, kia, and mitsubishi in the yard, ever single exhaust manifold was already gone. Now I'm just pissed. Did some searching on RDT, found a few for-sale threads, everything was already sold, only one that wasn't, was $200.

Next up, shredding off the rest of the sensor with a cut-off tool, and hammering in an extractor with a 15lb head hammer. Cranked the extractor into a bench vise, rotated the manifold itself this time.

CRACK

I cracked the god-damn vise.

Freaking OBX header went up for sale TODAY for $30+shipping, gone before I got to it. Hell, I got instant email notification of a new thread even.

Seriously, this is just my f***ing luck. I'm ready to take this propane torch to the entire car, and the garage.
FML.

Thread's up in wanted.

usually i dont post in topics like this but...

Sorry to hear man. Your best bet would be to Drill out the o2 sensor.. Drill the center out and weaken the threaded area and see if it will unwind with an extractor tapped into place (no 15lb sledge!). If it unwinds cool, otherwise take a saw blade and make a cut into the threaded area that remains and it should come right out. Just for furture reference, Always use Anti-Seize on exhaust bolts... You'll never have this problem again

I had a similar experience with the 02 sensor in my old exhaust. I tried everything. I ended up taking a hammer to the sensor and destroying it. Once it fell apart I was able to mangle it out.
