Some places do, but you can easily exchange your money at the border or at any bank. The exchange rate is pretty much 1-1 these days, so you wont be gaining or losing any money. And yes, they do take any major credit cars, but usually your bank will charge you any sort of "foreign fee" for currency conversion. You'll see it on the next bank statement.
I'm not sure what's going on with our housing situation right now. The apt we were supposed to be moving into fell through, and Jed's refusing to work with me to find an alternative. So, looks like he will still be in the old apt, and who knows where I will be. Not living in the old apt, I can tell you that. Either way I will be coming, but probably just staying in a hotel for the weekend, unless of course I can find my own apt by then. I'm sure Jed will have no problem with having people stay at his place, he didn't last year or the year before. If you don't wanna do that then I'll let you know which hotel I'm staying at, if it comes to that. Like I said, everything's up in the air right now and I wish Jed would quit being so stubborn and discuss these issues with me so we can figure out some resolution. Don't let this discourage you from coming though. We'll figure something out.

lol, don't be silly. I'll probably end up staying there anyway, plus, the guys a nurse and I can guarantee he will make himself scarce if we ask him to. We'll figure it out, don't worry.
You could always use an ATM up there as well, it will take a debit card and give you CAD. Your bank will charge a foreign fee like I said, but usually its only about 4-5 dollars. And if you only do one withdrawl, thats not bad.

After moving to Ontario from Texas and using my american visa here I can tell you a few things. I use bank of america and they charged me about $2.15 for each transaction and the stores usually have to put in a certain code to accept your card.
Us money is accepted everywhere pretty much. However every place is different. Some places take it as par, meaning $20 US is $20 CAN. Some will take it as say $0.90 to the dollar, Meaning you give them a $10 bill they will accept it as $9.
The best way is to stop at any bank and exchange it. BMO(Bank of Montreal, I don't know why the letters are backwards either) will not charge a fee to exchange your money. Atleast the one I use here didn't.
