When do you decide its time for new tires

Went to a BBQ yesterday and had this conversation with a couple of people there. They both decide its time for new tires when the steel belt starts to shine through. I on the other hand change my tires when they get down to the wear bars. When do you guys change them?

steel belts usually mean uneven wear caused by worn suspension or bad alignment,

if a tires tread is around or less than 2/32 sec's of tread, they're no longer servicable.

the rainy road should be more than enough reason to risk driving on bald and ply exposed tires.

i'm waiting for idiots with retarded hellaflush setups with mad negative camber to justify their unevenly worn "defective" tires

Bad toe angle wears more tires than camber.

I change my tires when they get to their wear bars.

I change them when they no longer deliver the desired performance, or when belts are exposed, whichever comes first. Sometimes that's with half the tread left.

I wait until one blows on me going 75mph down the road, lol. At least that's what happened with my beater blazer that had 15 year old tires on it...
