Re: faulty axle problem

I just got rubber put on my new rims and went to put them on today but well when i put the one on the front there are 2 screws that i guess hold the rotor on? that are in the way of the rims fitting flush against the rotor. Can i use a wheel spacer to fix the issue or am i pretty much screwed? The rims i bought said they would fit but didnt say if they needed a spacer or not. Someone please help! Thanks

Wheel Spacer?

Are they screws or bolts???
If they are phillips screws, you can take them off.
If they are bolts,.. You're screwed!
NO pun intended

Never mind, just checked your profile. You have a 01 Tib, just remove the screws.

Re: hp rating of stock internals?

If they are screws, you can remove them...if you really want to keep them, take a drill and use flat headed screws.

Re: pics

They are just normal large head phillips screws. Didnt know what purpose they served so i didnt want to take them off. So they really serve nor purpose at all and i can just take them off?

KaiJay, nicely said! lol!

we went through this a while ago over here.

those screws are as pointless and helpless as a hole in a bridge.

they were there to hold the rotors in place during assembly.

if you have 4 big bolts piercing the hub, you have captive rotors. most 1997's have captive rotors. i had captive rotors but got my wheel hubs replaced with RD2 hubs to put my rims on.

yours are likely non-captive rotors/hubs. meaning do whatever you want with the screws.

basically, you can take a phillips head screwdriver and take them out. they are as useless as a flashlight without batteries.

if they are "frankenstein's bolts" fitted in the center of the hubs (four of them), then you've got a problem. you canot take those out because your entire hub will fall apart and your wheel/lugs alone would not be able to hold the hub in place alone. you usually need somekind of tool set or wrench to take that out. they also stick out and are covered only by the stock rim.[/quote]

Re: a few pics from today

keep in mind, if they are real big (i wish i had pics) and get in the way, you have to replace (upgrade to 2k) hubs.

you don't want to fvck with those tongue.gif

but the ones you can use a phillips head screwdriver for, those are for nothing.

Re: Wheel Spacer?

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the quick response times. I took the screws out and they fit perfectly. Look great and has so much better handling now. Now that i have them on should i reset my ECM? If so when you do it by pulling the fuse do you still need to warm the car up first? And which fuse is it? Once again thanks for all your help!

Wait,... why would you need to reset your ECM?
You just changed wheels right???
