Default Sway bar / strut bar question ...

I read that Strut bars aren't that needed, but sway bars are more important and better for the money.

also I read that people say if you have the front strut bar you don't need the front sway bar and vice versa. Is this true?

So can I just get the front strut bar and a rear sway bar?

Lastly, are end links really needed? Can I just install the rear sway bar on without the end links?

Thanks!

Strut bars make less difference than sway bars, but they are not at all replacements for one another. Strut bars just stiffen the chassis between the struts to help maintain relative suspension geometry. Sway bars transfer some suspension load from side to side.

If your end links are plastic you should get new (steel) ones. The plastic ones won't generally hold up to the additional load of a stiffer sway bar.

Since were on sway bars I have some ?'s. Is it true that the GT accents have thicker sway bars over the base model? If so is it worth swapping? Also I heard that a bigger sway in the front increases understeer... any truth to that?

I sure as hell hope the GT sway bar wasn't thicker than a regular Accent. It was about the thickness of a pencil lol. But the Whiteline is huge.

Sway bars and how they work is a huge topic.

A stiffer front sway bar will increase rear traction. You feel that as increased understeer even though in reality you have the same front grip, just more rear grip.

A stiffer rear sway bar increases front traction. You will have a bit more oversteer generally because of this. For me personally I have actually reduced oversteer (while also increasing front grip) with a thicker rear bar because my rear contact patch has been improved. That shows how BAD it was before. I am also on 3 wheels less often now than before. The Accent is now neutral enough that I can encourage understeer or oversteer relatively easily as the driver. Prior to the bar it was extremely prone to oversteer.
