Just wondering the weight of our stock rims. Also wondering what a average weight is for 17in rims. The ones that i want to buy are 17.84 lbs.

Rim Weight question

17.84 is light for a 17in wheel. I don't know for 17in but for 15in, a regular wheel like a BSA will weight around 16-10lbs and a light wheel like rota will be around 8-12lbs.

Re: shipping to Australia

17 pounds is probably the lightest you can go with 17' rims.

Re: gift help

Wheel weight also changes, depending on who sells it. For example, when I was looking into 17's, a retailer told me that Konig Heliums had a listed weight of only 15lbs. I talked to a Discount tire worker and they told me that the Heliums were closer to 17lbs. In other words, the listed weight may not be the actual weight of the wheel. 17lbs is about as lite as you will find on a wheel. Try to buy a forged wheel if you can.

Re: Confused on tire logic

Basically.. Sport Compact Car will call ANY rim light that weighs less in pounds than it is in inches diameter.. and they have a point. That does seem to be the cutting point on rims.
