Noise That I Cannot Figure Out
So I own a 2000 Tiburon 2.0 and a problem arose about 2 weeks ago and I cant figure out what it is. When I turn to the left it makes a loud creaking sound and it only does this when turning left.
Any help is appreciated Thanks |
^ Holy thread resurrection! lol
If it's a whine, it could be a loose belt, low power steering fluid, or your power steering pump going out. But since it's only happening when you turn the wheel to the left, it could be a control arm, control arm bushing, tie rod or ball joint. |

Alright I will look into it now that there is somewhere to look for the problem Thanks for the help |
If it's a creak-creak-creak-creaking sound, it's a CV axle going out, or maybe a wheel bearing. Find a big empty parking lot and drive in circles, if you need to make sure. Get under the car and inspect the rubber boots on both axles *carefully*
If the boots are torn, and especially if there is grease residue all over, the axles are likely toast. They cost <$200 to have professionally repaired around here, or half that if you DIY and have the tools already. If it's just one creak every time you turn, then suspect a suspension bushing somewhere, like Visionz says. |
^All good info here. You can also check your wheel bearing by simply grabbing the top of your tire and push back and forth, if it chunks back and forth, bearings are shot.
