New wheels for the Tib

Added some new wheels and tires to the Tib a few weeks ago, they replaced the OEM 17s which were wrapped in 215/45 17 Potenza rubber.

The new wheels are 18x8 +40 Fast Wheels 'Hayaku' with 215/35 Toyo Extenza HP rubber. Both are easy on the pocket book and have performed well so far, some reviews say the tires are noisy but I have no interior or sound proofing so I dont much care. I also went with a narrower tire than the wheel could use to avoid rub during hard cornering, it also throws the speedo off a little but again I dont care with the amount of modding done to my car.

I have also swapped out the 18psi springs in my wastegate for 24psi spings, datalogging sees me hitting 27 and holding at 25.6psi, the datalog screen shot is here. Min/Max values on the left and current values indicated at the center by the vertical tracking bar.

Old tires...YIKES

New wheels look great

How's the ride quality with the new tires and springs?

slow 2K2GT 08-26-2013 04:20 PM

Well the springs are for the wastegate so I can have more boost, im currently riding on ARK coilovers so the ride is stiff but not unbearable for me...passengers on the other hand are not as accustomed to the ride and find it a little outlandish. The smaller tire is again a little stiffer but nothing I havent been on before.

I'm about 81% injector duty cycle so next season may bring some ID1000 to cover my squirting needs.

hey watch the extenzas for cupping, they had a small issue with them. if you notice they start to cup, cross rotate em if possible.

its the only thing we noticed helps

slow 2K2GT 08-27-2013 12:50 AM

Thanks Faith I will watch for that...I seem to have the car on jack stands often enough so it shouldn't be difficult lol

faithofadragon 08-27-2013 08:24 AM

good tires none the less, especially for the cost. They just get LOUD as they wear from the cupping. Even if you dont rotate, they still get 50k miles of NORMAL driving (lol)

slow 2K2GT 08-27-2013 09:30 AM

Yeah... Normal.... See that's the problem lol
