I am planning purchasing a set of black aftemarket rims for my car and will need new lugs for them preferably ones that have the lock thing on them.

When approaching companies to purchase them ahead of time what size lugs do we use?

anything else i need to know?

I'm not sure the size you need because depending on where you buy the rims from, they hook you up with aftermarket lugs. I ordered mine from here and they included the lugs in my order. I highly recomend them!

I just read the "Anything else I need to know part." Depending on the offset of your new rim you might need hubcentric rings.

well the good thing i was able to stay away from the hub centric rims

but im buying them off a friend so that is the reason for no lugs
his are on a honda

Get them mounted at a Discount Tire and get the lifetime balance. They'll also hook you up with tuner lugs.

offset doesnt have anything to do with whether or not you need hubcentric rings.

you will need them if there is a gap between the opening for the center of the hub on the wheel and the part that protrudes towards the wheel(cant think of correct term).

we have a 12mmx1.5 thread size. chances are, you will need the type of lugs that are internally ratcheted, like this:

I would actually stay away from that type. With the open top on the bolt, you are inviting water into the threads. I would go for a closed type like stock or even the Spline Drive I have.

I also recomment anti-sieze on the threads.

thats the thing though, none of those 'acorn' style lugs will fit. you only have about .8 inches of space around the lug space for most tuner rims. you gotta factor in the size of the socket/key for that as well. care to show some pictures of your spline drive set?

The tool to put them on and remove them looks too thin to be strong, but it is. Never had a problem with an air wrench or anything.
