So I really don't feel like spending $300 on switching my captive rotors to non captive..So I was wondering if it would be a very good idea on just drilling out the spots for the bolts in my 17" rims....

Would that weaken the rim very bad, or do you think i would be fine??

The rims are 17" HP Racing Xes....

That's what some people do & it seems to work fine if it's done properly.

It's a bad idea.

Either get the adapter rings or do the swap mang.

Hey man.

I grinded out where needed on the back of my rims. Works perfectly. No problems.

I had to balance my tires thats why it shook, and my rims are bent becuz of previous owner.

Its a good way to do it, if u do not want to spend any money to make a set of rims fit on your car.

yeah no problems

take a look at them i bet you they have cracks

even if you dont have a problem

keep this in mind imagine you need to do a emergency stop and all of a sudden your wheel brakes off the car
now wtf are you gonna do? ugh1.gif

in fact nissan had to recall ALL of the xterras because of that very same problem

the spokes on the wheels would break off leaving the car with NO way of controlling the vehicle

for the swap you just need to find a vehicle without captive rotors and swap over the hub, spindle, and knuckle assy

Any have pics of the exact stuff we need? if so i can get a non captive set up then. But i am not sure of all these technical names. Oh well, dont really care with my old rims. They are sold. so i guess i might have to wait to put new ones on.

Tomorrow i will take a look and see if there are any of these "cracks" your talkin about.

I dont want to go that route either. I will see how much I will need to file away. If its alot, then I might consider other options.

you could simply do a simple maching processto your stock hubs and use "tapered" bolt
that way the bolts heads would sit flush with your hub,i've done it quite often with very good results
