4 wheel disc brake conversion ???

I notice the 2001 elatra has 4 wheel disc brakes. I would like to change from the drum to the disc in the back. ( prep for big brake kit. ) I was wondering if the change out is possible and if is a relatively easy do it yourself application.

It is possible, and depending on how handy you are you should be able to do it yourself.

Talk to Sam about getting the parts from Korea for less $$$. (or try a junkyard)

I was thinking of this also, the 2k Elantra that have ABS have rear disc also.

I have a friend who has an elantra and wants to do the same thing. He called the junk yard and found the parts no problem. The only thing that they won't sell to him is the rotors. Would the rear dics off the tibby fit?

the tiby rotors should work. Somewhere on SR mesage board here mentions it. To Lasy too look right now. If they dont though the 2001 GT rotors will work.

You will hork up the ABS system if you move from ABS drums to disc, unless you fit the ABS components from a ABS Disc'ed tiburon

is "hork" a technical term? wink.gif

Isn't hork Ren's last name from Ren and Stimpy?

and remember...don't piss on the electric fence.

Hoeck is Ren's last name.

Hork is a technical term. Not broken, but still not working. Basically, assembled wrong, or missing parts. "It's horked up."

And don't let a yak borrow your shaver...

As for my conversion I have front disc/rear drums-no ABS. I would take the ABS rear disc and put them on as non-ABS rear disc on my car. Would this work or should I forget about it.
