New armor-plated Lincoln Town Car
Lincoln announces the new armor-plated Town Car model
Lincoln introduced the Town Car BPS (Ballistic Protection Series). This is Lincoln's first armored vehicle and has been under development for the last two years. Most armored vehicles are "after-market" vehicles and as a result the production vehicle that was used sacrifices items like quality and driving dynamics. This Town Car provides protection from both handgun and high-powered rifle bullets. Lincoln says it will perform around 300 tests including those involving crashes. Naturally, extensive ballistic testing has been performed by independent labs to validate the performance of the materials used. Designed by Lincoln Special Engineering Operations, the Town Car BPS is expected to bring in a clientele that would not normally consider purchasing a Lincoln. That clientele includes corporate executives, political dignitaries and government agencies. The Town Car BPS was designed to look like a "standard" Town Car, so there is no difference in areas such as ride height and exterior nomenclature. The Town Car BPS features: - advanced ceramic-composite material (breaks the bullet and disperses energy) - ballistic steel (fortifies the ceramic material) - ballistic transparencies (window protection) - interwoven aramid fiber ("blanket" that provides undercarriage protection) - run-flat inserts in tires (30mph for up to 30 miles) - modified fuel tank (optional) - specially-tuned, heavy-duty springs and shocks |
Nothing on how large of a round it will stop?
Sniper rifles are sitting in the .50 range alot now and I can't think of too much that'll hold up to a Armor Piercing .50 round. |
I think Lincoln has forgotten to include various criminal organizations as potential 'clientel' for their new Town Car BPS..
