We recently reported that Hyundai was looking to introduce a Genesis sub-brand that would unite its premium vehicles, with company boss Dave Zuchowski having confirmed that the carmaker was evaluating the possibility. However, Hyundai America CEO John Krafcik has subsequently confirmed to Ward’s Auto that the plan has been ditched.



“We have no plan to change our Equus and Genesis retail approach – it’s working,” the executive was quoted as saying by the aforementioned source.



However, the company is going to make new steps for its premium vehicles, with Krafcik adding that the Genesis could get all-wheel drive in the future, but this would arrive on the next generation of the platform, as the automotive producer is willing to make its cars appealing to a broader audience.
