Detroit muscle cars aren't so strong in crash tests

DETROIT -- Muscle cars may look cool, but they don't offer the best protection in a crash. The Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger didn't get the highest ratings in new tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The institute, which is funded by insurers, tested 2016 models. The Mustang earned the highest rating on four of the five tests, but didn't do as well on the small overlap test, which simulates what happens when a small portion of the car's front end hits a pole at 40 miles per hour http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6Aqf_Tea6U |
I don't care. I also don't want cameras, radar or any other nannies in my cars. If I could buy a real muscle car, like they used to make in the 60's, but new, I would. I want crank windows; manual locks; no radio; a/c as an option, but not standard; a manual trans and 600whp with a warranty.

Moral of the story: Don't drive straight into a pole at forty miles per hour.

Take a lesson from the Mustang, crowds are softer and have splash damage. |
