DETROIT AUTO SHOW: Aston unveils AM V8 Vantage concept
Aston unveils AM V8 Vantage concept due in 2005
Aston unveiled a new concept at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit; the AM V8 Vantage concept sports car. The latest creation to come from Aston Martin is expected to go into production in 2005 and will be hand-built at a new facility in Gaydon, England. The two seat sports car rides on an all-new aluminum platform, with a front mid-engine/rear wheel drive layout. The short front and rear overhangs give the car a muscular stance, a critical objective from the onset. Power is supplied by an all-new alloy 4.3 liter V8 engine transmitted to a six-speed rear-mounted manual transaxle. The layout of the drivetrain helps the new Aston achieve a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Meanwhile, the interior received considerable attention and is finished in a combination of various leathers and anodized aluminum. Customers will have an infinite amount of body colors and upholstery schemes to choose from, plus the option of requesting different materials.
