Intake Location

Intake Location
So, the only thing i'm very unsatisfied with currently, is the location of my intake, in that its sat up behind the battery in true SRI fashion.
I see a lot running down low, but i have concerns regarding the amount of standing water and rain we have in the UK. That and from searches, it seems a lot of the old pictures are no longer hosted.
One thing i've been considering is moving the battery to the boot/trunk and making a hole in the arch, a bit like on the GKs.
I'd be looking to buy the piping and fitting it in myself, just need an idea of where is best for air, and no water ingress.

Very much so! Which is why i want to move it!
Im assuming going through the plastics in the bottom of the bay will let me get to behind the fog?
Saying that, i will be changing to an aftermarket bumper at some point, so there will be great cold supply where the fogs were then.

Buy tube like this one. I'm using it for brake duct, but my previous setup was with cold air intake and was using it to install the filter behind the fog light.
And yeah you should go through the plastic.

Rain isn't a real problem for a low cold air intake. Even pretty constant splashing won't be a problem other than it'll get dirty quickly and need more maintenance. There are foam couplers that won't allow enough vacuum to draw standing water up the intake if you're concerned. It would pretty much have to be stuck into standing water and suck it up like a straw to hydrolock your engine.

I can live with cleaning it every week or two. Been monitoring the intake temp with torque, and its too high for my liking. Just need to magic up the money to get the pipework.

Borrowed Rob40s old K&N Apollo.
Now i know why there was no proper CAI for the Gen2. Theyre a pain in the arse to make and fit. Alas. Its in. Temps are sat at ~20c vs ~50c.
