Turbo on a high-mileage engine
Hi everyone, I'm thinking of getting a turbo for my tibby. But the engine is 143,000 miles old... Would that cause any problems or should I have the block and heads looked at before doing anything?
Thanks

So many variables... most outcomes are potentially bad other than it going faster.
How healthy is it - compression - fuel system, etc etc?

143,000 isn't all that old, for a mild turbo system. For a 3 bar system, 0 miles may be too old. There are too many variables to give a straight answer.

I turbo charged mine at 100k. Mild setup, stock compression, tuned to about 10 psi. Ran fine until I swapped engines 25k later.
As mentioned, whenever you add more power then was intended from the factory, things can happen. As my tuner always said, that's racing.
