Do you plan on running their retainer and keepers as well? I believe they must be used. I would be concerned about running a much stiffer spring on sub-par retainers, keepers, and even the stock valve. The Crower is only a slightly stiffer upgrade and allows you to keep all the stock parts. The last thing you would want is the valve train to let go since it can take out your bottom end as well.



The spring heights are the same because the cams are the roughly the same, therefore the spring compression is also the same. The different length of the valves is only to accommodate a thicker head.

Wasn't Slow running a built Beta1 head he bought used? My main concern is making sure I'm not having this guy buy parts that won't work so things like should and maybe don't fly. Has anyone ever measured the height difference between the Beta I HLA's and II MLAs? You say the beta II head is thicker so the spring height should be the same. Has anyone done any sort of comparison measurements? Maybe Deniss99?

I took pics of the Crower and Beta 2 springs. They also work in the Beta 1's, so I know they are the same.

Hmm...shorter than stock ain't such a good idea. lol Have you run it in the car without issue? Springs too short can cause all sorts of issues.

Yup, runs fine. It's only 1/8" shorter, but has a lot more spring pressure, so I'm sure it's not going to bottom out before a stock spring would. That guy on NewTib has been running it in his 11 sec Tib for like 7yrs now.



Unless you have big pockets, and plan to run 9's, then I wouldn't waste money on Ferrea and just get the Crower springs with the rest being modified factory parts. Polish stock valves, port the head, etc.

Ah ok thanks John! Yeah the guy has fairly deep pockets and needs something extremely reliable and able to hold 500whp all day long.

Yea, he's been on Facebook for a long time. Everyone's been sackriding him. lol



Ferrea does make quality parts, but I wouldn't say they're extremely reliable or bulletproof. I know Honda guys that break them. It's just part of racing. Some guys gave up on spending more for Ferrea and just get cheaper alternatives that last just as long. They also have backup heads so there's no down time.

Yeah, Jonathan is the real deal though. He's having me built two identical engines. Another friend of mine just got the twin to his race car from Canada and its a BEAST! Built V6 with 12.5:1 pistons, runs on C16.
