Default What If Global Warming Turns Out To Be Real?

Let us say, global warming is real. And, there comes a time, where everyone pretty much realizes the environment, and most of the life on this planet, is screwed.

Live stock has died due to extreme heat. Crops have been wiped out. The poles have melted. Sea levels have risen. Cities are submerged in water or are in ruin due to the extreme heat. In certain parts of the world people literally melt.

What do you think the surviving (but possibly soon to be dead) people will do?

I see some attempt to hide, inside mountains - above the current higher sea level, but in caves. Very few folks of whatever the worlds population ends up being at that time, will actually survive. Maybe not even at all,.. I also see serious backlash towards any climate deniers that may still be around. But, people will soon forget and just focus on staying alive somehow.

And, if and when the climate cools down and things return to normal; animal life and crops will sprout back. As well as any humans - however, I don't think any 'lessons learned' will carry through, but, rather a repeat of events.

But Global Warming is real. Human want to think it's 100% our fault, but that's mostly driven by ego and fear. The Cenozoic era has been not only largely cooler than previous, but it to has seen periods of time much warmer than current and for that matter much colder. We may be helping the process, but the earth will warm gradually over time and inevitably cool again. The problem with our mentality on this isn't the complete prevention of "global warning," but to clean up the mes we as humans have made over the past 150 years. Once we have found a way to sustain our largely industrial infrastructure with minimal ecological impact then the next phase will be learning to cope with the earths rapid mood swings. Also respect the frankly monstrous geothermal events that are inevitable. Yellowstone alone is going to emit more greenhouse gasses than our current population ever could, will without question kill hundreds of millions if no billions globally, and will result a global cooling event that is going to challenge our species more than anything prior. Make no mistake, it will be a mass-extinction of unimaginable proportions and still nothing like those this planet's life has survived previous. And for that matter Lake Toba, the Pacana Caldera and the Taupo Volcanic Zone are capable of even more disastrous eruptions than Yellowstone. Then there is the Long Valley Caldera, Yellowstone smaller brother that is destined to turn most, if not all, of California into an ash desert. And that has erupted several times in just the few short (half million) years our closest evolutionary relatives have been alive. The Toba Catastrophe Theory suggests that an eruption some 70,000 years ago caused a decade long winter killing roughly 60% of the human population, which mind you was most densely located on the African continent and middle east some 4500-5000 miles away at the time, and would cause a millennium of global cooling. So and event of such magnitude is not uncommon globally and has been witnessed by our species prior.

My point: "Global Warming" is a natural process and not uncommon. Maybe we are at some fault, but the earth will survive us and probably kill us. Let's clean up our act for sanitary purposes, but worrying about the temperature of the planet is ultimately a distraction.
