What a sad story. Seriously that's messed up though. if she did so much positive for those kids why would she scar them like that? 
Depression is a ugly beast though. And I do say "if" because lets face it, once someone dies people magically forget all of the evil they have done in life.
But seriously, plow a student or something. Find a more creative outlet.
