my 2003 sonata
My car was impounded by local cops for 2.5 years....trying to get it running again....battery was toast and fuel pump and gauge are not working. Have not been able to find a decent wiring diagram to troubleshoot it.

That must have been one hell of a penalty fee! And how did they not sell it at auction after the 4th or 5th month? 2 and a half years is a long ass time to be impounded, which btw....what was it impounded for?
DId you check your fuses? They may have been corroded if they got damp and were sitting all that time. Batty replacement should be an easy fix.

Vehicle: MC + RD2 + AW11 + 944 = 4x Win
Impounded? What the crap did you do!?
As for the for the fix, get a new battery and check the fuses as was stated prior. That should be pretty easy honestly.
Also, check under the hood. When I found (long story) my 944 someone had swiped all of the obvious goods: my ITBs, dual fuel rail, racing seats, 951 full metallic clutch kit, 968 Trans with Lindsey conversions and other stuff. This is also one of the big reasons my it's not running today. That's a good 10k worth in mods.

It may be worth your money to get a subscription to www.hyundaitechinfo.com. Before they paywalled it, there were shop, electrical and owners manuals for all years of Hyundais starting with the mid-1990s. It's relatively cheap if you NEED the information, and once you get in you should (in theory) be able to download everything for your car and drop the subscription.

How is it possible to have it impounded for so long?... It will cost you more to get it out than buying another car.
