Quebec to be the First Province to Ban Hellaflush

Yes, you read correctly. The SAAQ has prohibited you to "hellaflush" your vehicle, even using the term on its website:

Hellaflush

Hellaflush is a practice of cosmetic modifications that comes to the detriment of handling and road holding capabilities which consist of:

  • Lowering the suspension of the vehicle
  • Installing oversized and offset wheels (offset greater than of the stock wheels)
  • Installing tires too narrow for the wheels (tire stretching).

These modifications, that affect the geometry of the vehicles suspension, are generally observed by the presence of exaggerated negative camber. This is an overview of the principals of hellaflush and the reason this practice is prohibited.

I'm sorry but there is just something amusing at the thought of an official government body using that word. Their description of what it means is dead on though. Maybe the SAAQ is cooler than we thought? I don't think this is an entirely new law with regard to the tires, but it's the first time I've noticed that particular word on the SAAQ website.

So what does this mean for fans of "stanced" or "hellaflush" vehicles? If you drive on public roads you risk getting sent for inspection. Where the line is between hellaflush and not hellaflush is unclear. The SAAQ just defers to a site called the Tire and Rim Association which is based in the U.S.A. This is something that needs to be resolved.

While I do agree with the law and hope that it is true, I have a feeling all obvious lowered vehicles are going to be targets

On an amusingly-related note: On the way home from church this past Sunday I wished I'd had my camera at the ready vs. being busy driving. I was >.< this close to turning around to make a picture but I figured the guy was having enough of a self-inflicted bad day already and decided to let him alone:

  • Be driving along minding my own business
  • Suddenly: a scion xb parked, driven off the right side of the road at a 45 degree angle
  • Sitting at the entrance to a parking lot from the street
  • Stopped
  • Pretty low
  • Pink wheels on dark car, whatever but it's their ride
  • HERRAFRUSH!!! #tuckinrims
  • Dude standing near side of driveway, looking at driver's side
  • Talking to the driver?
  • Driving up to the driveway now
  • BIG deep scratch on the driveway entrance behind car. Driveway has a steep /\slope to it.
  • Car is high centered! LOLsillygoose
  • Driving past the car now
  • zOMG car is missing driver's front wheel and all smashed on the driveway entrance
  • Dude was the driver looking at his jacked-up ride
  • Too low so sorry!

People who stance their car to extreme levels dont understand that it's a safety problem and they put other drivers at risk.

- Stretched tires: blowouts can easily happen

- Extreme camber: less tire contact with the road and extreme uneven tire wear

- Being 1 inch from the ground: Body parts can fly off if you hit something or a pothole

I probably sound like an old man right now, but when you do something that can cause problems for other people on the roadways, then it's pretty stupid.

What mods do you have on your cars that are not legal ? too dark tint ?, engine mods- forced induction ?, HID kits ?, high flow catalytic converters ?, oversized rims ? etc , it seems hypocritical to bag other mods but it's o.k if it is your own even though it's not legal ? Currently all my mods been passed by a D.O.T engineer to meet all legal requirements.

SCIENCE:

Terrible car that was dangerous at any speed.

Current F1 Constructor front runner.

Results?

Extreme camber is stupid. There is no discussion to be had.
