simple waterproof splices?

murrettes are for use in a house where you have tons of space and everything is hidden in junction boxes and stationary. For a car what you want is a soldering/shrinking/sealing BUTT splice (vs. twist-on). Strip wires, insert, heat, and it is soldered and sealed in one step.
