Default People still cut their springs

Its a sad thing. Met a GK owner today who's car was almost scraping. Thought he was on air suspension he was that low. When I asked him about it, he said he cut his stock springs and was on KYB struts. The thing must have drove pretty bad. With there being so many options out there today for drop springs, why would someone do something so bad to their car like that? Doesnt make any sense to me.

I did it to the Elantra. Why? 100% cheaper than anything from a store, to correct a minor height problem after the transmission conversion. The stock spring rate was too low anyway.

people still install lowering springs without installing matching dampers

people still pick a ride height on looks alone

people still install chassis bracing on stock street cars

people still choose tyre profile on looks alone

etc

most people don't know/don't care, I don't see cutting springs as any better or worse than anything else.

@ spring cutting. If you do it, please dont drive anywhere near me. Seriously, one of the worst (and most unsafe) things you can do to a car.

people have been cutting springs for longer than any of us have been into the car scene. If done properly, there is no issue with cutting springs.

I guess I'm the minority here that thinks cutting springs is the worst thing ever and not smart one bit.

You're not. I did mine the right way and never looked back.

Cut springs, especially DIYs as most are, equal a recipe for disaster.
