Default Mounting bottle in the back seat

Does everyone keep their bottles in their hatch or does anyone keep them in the back seat?

Local laws vary. Consult local laws before deciding where to mount your bottle. Also, when mounting the bottle in the passenger compartment, please use a relief valve ("safety blow-down") that vents outside the passenger compartment.

I would prefer to keep the highly pressurised gas as far away from occupants as possible.

Right. I'd much rather use a lot more low pressure gas, in more cylinders with greater swept volume each . . . V8 conversion!
