Of course you can jack up the math if you account for professional install costs, but the vast majority of people on this board can do the job. You're grasping at straws again. Unless a $200 CAI can give you twice the dyno proven value then it is not a DOLLAR FOR POWER guaranteed mod. Maybe at old prices, but at the current cost it doesn't work. My only point was the over generalization of the question.

I sold my used AEM for $80, if we're gonna talk about used parts.

I remember back in 02, buying a generic CAI from Autozone I think, then extending it behind the turn signal with a Ractive mushroom style filter. It created ram air for the track.

Cracks me up how everyone was spending all this cash to make the "better CAI" back in the day. "I got 12hp!" "I got 13hp!"

I said screw all this nonsense and went nitrous for not much more money.

Do what I did, $20 Spectre Cone filter and I made an adjustable Air Intake temp sensor, $40 PCV catch can from Jegs, NGK iridium plugs and good wires with good ignition coils, removed the second cat under the car and put a $20 flowtech muffler on. Then go through simple maintenance stuff like new fuel filter, test and replace any sensors that are not up to spec and then I run Castrol GTX 5w30 standard oil and add Prolong to it on Bosch filters, then if its a manual run Red Line MT-90 fluid in it. Drop some poly mounts on the lower motor mounts and make sure the other two are in good condition then beef up your suspension and then a good set of tires.

I still to this day drive my 01 Tiburon like its stolen and I just hit 228,000 with the original engine / tranny. I will take anyone on with my setup especially on long windy roads since my suspension setup lets me push the car harder than most people are willing to take their higher performance cars up to and I know I can run this car at 100% for as long as I want since its basically just a stock engine and tranny running very efficiently.
