Hyundai Elantra Forum The Hyundai Elantra Forum. Later models (96-up) of this 4-door share their Beta engines and chassis with the Hyundai Tiburon. Earlier Mistubishi-based Hyundai Elantras (92-95) are perfect candidates for the popular 4g63t motor swap, which turns the Hyundai Elantra into a real sleeper. Need a little more light than what the factory dome lights are giving out. Many people recommend going with LED's but Ive heard they can start fires since the factory wiring cant handle them. Is there a brighter halogen bulb than factory?

I have LED dome lights in all my cars. I have a crazy bright one in my work truck. I bought them all on e-bay. They are lower wattage than stock, i dont see where the problems would occur. Are you sure you aren't thinking of HID headlights? They can sometimes cause problems with the wiring. Either way, i LOVE mine. Just find out the bulb size and search e-bay.

LEDs work great. I got mine from Diode Dynamics, hundreds of people have. Never heard of anyone having an issue.

Plenty of light with my LED board, I actually smoked my dome light cover because it was too bright.

I removed the dome light from a 04 Hyundai XG350 and installed it in my Hyundai 01 Elantra. Its large, has two bulbs and push button versus the slider switch. it was pretty much plug and play I just had to mount it and slightly remove some of the head liner to fit.
