Tamirm1  : (18 December 2014 - 09:53 PM) Thanks to everyone. Yes, I did pull the fuses out one at a time, and one of them was the correct one. The only problem is t that I fumbled two fuses, dropping them into the bottom of the fuse area, and even with nose pliers cannot reach them. That wouldn't be terrible, but they must have been important because now my trusty car won't start. Won't turn over completely! Anyway, everything is hard when you don't know what you are doing. Luckily, I can use my daughter's car (out of country for a few more days) to go down to my nice, fair, very elderly mechanic, and ask if he can please work on it ASAP, once I get it towed to him (10 miles away). You all were very nice, and I appreciate it. By the way, I love my car, and will stick with Hyundai when I am able to buy a new car.

If you're in an accident, but only do minor damage to the front of your car, but the air bags deploy...is the car considered totaled regardless?

This didnt happen to my car. I was j/w

I don't think so, because airbags are designed to be replaced. However, that's probably down to the insurance assessor.

In Australia at least, It's deemed a regular or repairable write off if the shop repairs are worth more than the car, and a statuary write off if the structure has been compromised.

its totaled if the insurance company can save money by just paying you what the car is worth instead of fixing

For an 02 accent I'm guessing the answer will be "yes" because the value of the car will be < the cost to replace both bags and fix the front end of the car after you rearend somebody.

Then you buy it back from the ins. co. for a few hundred bucks, don't replace the airbags, replace the bumper and keep driving it. That's what one of the guys at my old job did, anyway.
