Those look great, but are you going to be able to compete with the piece togethers those guys are creating? I've been creeping around the boards at Veloster.org, and it seems you can put in a great looking SRI for about $60-$80. They were complaining about the overpriced ones on the market so far.

$60-$80 intakes? I'm assuming they are custom made, correct?

Of course, but to tell you the truth, a few of them turned out really nice. All legit intake parts bought from the auto parts (pep boys, orielys, auto zone, ect...) with the filter of choice on the end. Couple of them are definitely looking premade and professional though. I haven't done any of the leg work on the one's that are "to expensive", so I was just wondering what these were going for.

Wow! this looks great count me in!

Hey Bdiggy, I frequent Velo.org as well. I have seen these "pepboys intakes" you speak of first hand. But personally, I would rather shell out a few extra bucks to support my car's community.. The more support aftermarket companies get from the community, the more parts they develop for that car, and the whole world goes round...

I do agree though that some look pretty snazzy, but personally I dont think you can compare them to a piece from a reputable company such as injen with a random straight pipe and filter.. remember, filter, material, angle, curvature, viscosity all reflect gains.. A real intake from a reputable company will take all of these into account, will have proven gains, and a warranty to back it. (Plus, saying you have an injen sounds much better than saying you made a pepboys pipe) ;)

I am well aware that they both do the same thing. However, the injen has R&D time behind it, they design it to give the best gains possible. when you take the custom route, who knows what your gains will be? should you decide to find out, be prepared to shell out $80 for parts + $50 for some dyno pulls.. But again, its all brand name. I would rather shell out a few extra clams for the added luxuries of a reputable companies product, and in doing so support my communities aftermarket. =)

Oh, no doubt, and I wasn't by any means trying to bash this at all. I was just looking into what to expect to pay for a good intake when I get my Veloster in the spring, haha :happyanim:
