Default What RPM do you shift from 1st to 2nd?

Trying to improve my shifting and get the best power through out the rpms and was wondering where does everyone shift from going into 2nd gear from 1st? And do you shift at the same RPM level through out the gears or do you change it the higher the gear you go into?

What type of driving? Full on drag race or just trying to get up the on-ramp better?

Sometimes I don't shift from 1-2. If I'll be going 30-35MPH I sometimes skip from 1 straight to 5 because I can.

Shift where you feel like it. If you are really after the most power, shift just before the HP graph starts to fall off (the same for all gears), and shift as quickly as possible.

for city and just getting around, around 2-2300 rpm

my 1.8 j2 doenst make any noticable scoot until 4000rpm..

if i'm passing someone..5500 rpm

if i'm trying to beat someone on a 2 lane merging into a single lane..6000rpm for wot acceleration..6500 redline is pointless as the beta runs out of breath,

I usually shift about 3 or 4 seconds after bouncing of the rev-limiter, first and second, sometime 3rd! Depends on how much fun i am having!

Wet weather: 3K usually

Around town, conservative/late at night/very early morning: 2K, keeping the exhaust note low enough to not wake people up

Around town, fun mood: redline for first, then when I hit speed limit in second I jam to fourth/fifth depending

Highway: just below redline in first (fuel+spark cut is evil...), same for the second-third. hit 4th at speed limit, then wait till I can deal with the lack of acceleration to hit fifth

I make it a point not to ever go over the speed limit, even by 5, when I'm doing redline shifting, and most of the time I'm going 5 under for the first 1/4 after I hit 4th/5th as a precaution.
